CEREC®
Dr. Patrick Moriarty is your local CEREC® dentist for single-visit tooth restorations.
What is Cerec?
Cerec is a technology for restoring damaged teeth utilizing computer-aided design and computer-aided milling of ceramic blocks to provide strong and esthetic restorations. In most cases, this type of restoration can be completed in a single in-office visit providing crowns, veneers and onlays resulting in beautiful metal-free restorations. It makes your teeth stronger and more beautiful, all the while keeping your teeth looking natural. Totally metal free, Cerec restorations are entirely biocompatible.
In most cases, you no longer have to have two separate visits to complete crown and similar type restorations, which saves you time and also avoids the need for temporary crowns. Where as in the past, it usually took two weeks or more, now we usually complete your treatment in the same appointment.
The Cerec Process
First, Dr. Moriarty will meet with you to discuss the details of the procedure. During the procedure, Dr. Moriarty will apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using computer-aided design, the photo serves as a "map" to design your tooth's restoration. Then, Cerec will use a diamond bur in a special computer-assisted milling unit to create your restoration out of a solid block of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry. Cerec restorations are suitable for single as well as multiple crowns in the mouth including use in anterior cosmetic cases.
